Focusing on the Unchangeable Christ

Scripture:  Hebrews 13:7-8 -  Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
Never forget those who have or are influencing your spiritual walk.  Keep their legacy alive.  Even though human spiritual leadership may change, it’s so encouraging to know that Jesus remains the same.  Therefore, we should keep following, trusting, and seeking Him!  As Pastor Cockrell has said many times, man may be fickle.  God is immutable, immovable, enduring, changeless and constant!  The book of Hebrews presents that Christ is superior over everyone and everything.  Christ is greater than the angels, Moses, and is greater than the high priests.

We should focus on Christ’s unchangeable character.  He was concealed in the Old Testament, and He was revealed in the New Testament.  Colossians 1:26-27 says “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”  All of creation will change, and one day will fade away.  Jesus Christ, the one who is the creator of all creation will never change.  God is perfect and doesn’t change.  Hebrews 4:15 says “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

We should focus on God’s unchangeable promises.  I Corinthians 1:20 says “Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?”  It is impossible for Him to lie.  God is always faithful in keeping His promises and will fulfill what He promises to us.  God took an oath in His own name.  The oath was just as good as His name.  God’s name was as good as His divine nature.  God cannot die, and He is always as true and faithful to fulfill His promises.  Our hope is secure and firm like an anchor of a ship.  Just as an anchor secures a ship, Jesus secures our soul, mind, will and emotions.  Jesus  wants us to depend on and focus on Him in our storms of life, and He longs for us to be connected to Him through a personal relationship with Him.

Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father:  Thank You for making a way for us to have a personal relationship with You  that lasts forever.  Help us to focus on Your unchangeable character and Your unchangeable promises.  We love and appreciate you!  All this I pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
