Overcoming Our Fears
Scripture: Isaiah 41;10 - Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
We have to face many challenges, and sometimes we become fearful. We have a choice in dealing with fear:
Forget everything and run or face everything and rise
We have to continue to put our trust/faith in our Lord Jesus Christ to help us overcome our fears. Years ago, I was faced with a choice I had to make – whether to fly to South Carolina when I was at a conference at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois or to leave the conference and drive back to Maryland and then drive to South Carolina. At that time I had a fear of flying. I had to choose to trust the Lord to see me through my fear. As a believer in Jesus Christ, God’s word is the solution to help us overcome our fears. We do not have to live a fearful life. We have to choose to apply what God’s word says. Also, it is critical that we not live our lives according to what the world says – i.e., what the horoscope says or what fortune tellers say. Don’t be in bondage to what other people say. Concerning the solution to dealing with our fears: Firstly, (I Timothy 1:7) let God control your mind by the power of the holy Spirit – through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Psalms 27:1) Secondly, focus not on fear but what is really true. (Psalms 34:4) God promises to deliver you from all of your fears. God promises to be with you. (Hebrews 13:5-6) You can say with confidence that His presence is with you. (Isaiah 43:1-2) Thirdly, with full assurance we can trust God’s sovereignty and authority over death. (Matthew 10:28) We have to trust Jesus who has the final authority over death and hell. (Psalms 23:1) Trust Jesus who is the Good Shephard. He will walk with you. (Hebrews 2:14-18) Trust Jesus who will deliver you from the bondage of fear of death. (I Corinthians 15:56-57) Trust in Jesus who has taken the sting out of death and has given us the victory. (Revelation 1:17-19) Trust Jesus who said that we should be not afraid. He has all power and authority over death and hell.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, without You in my life I would be fearful of so many things. Since I have a personal relationship with You, I am trusting You to take me through the challenges and storms of life. My past, present, and future, are secure because You have promised eternal life to all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection with all their heart -- In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thanks so very much for this devotional "Overcoming Our Fears". Whenever I'm afraid, it makes me pray even more! I thank the Father that I am heard by Him. He helps, directs my way, and gets me through whatever that fear is. Another point is that God placed emotions within us. Natural fear in the right manner could save my life. My fear given to God enables me to be helped/delivered by Him. Blessed be the Name of the Lord who is able to work out Ephesians 3:20 within me.
