The Heavenly Family

Scripture: Matthew 7:21-23 – 21 Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

What important facts do we see from the above Scripture?
  • Access into the kingdom of heaven is limited.
  • In that day, many will call Jesus "Lord, Lord."
  • Only those who do the will of the Father go into the kingdom of heaven.
  • The Father is in heaven.
  • Good works won't get one into the kingdom of heaven.
  • Name - those who have a different Father (under another's authority) won't go into the kingdom of heaven.
  • Profess - no covenant acknowledgment from Jesus.
  • Don't Know You - Jesus is not obligated to any who's not a part of His family.
  • Depart - No residence available.
  • Workers of sin - won't go into the kingdom of heaven.

Salvation Is Needed To Enter Into God's Family – But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life (Titus 3:4-7).

Prayer: Thank you LORD for making me an heir. I am grateful that I am in your heavenly family. Help me to walk worthy of your calling and adoption. In Jesus' name. Amen.
