God - Our Refuge and Strength

Scripture:  Psalms 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. It is so comforting to know and experience the Lord Jesus Christ being our refuge and strength. A refuge is a shelter or protection from danger or a storm. That was the Psalmist's testimony. Psalms 62:8 says-Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us. Then Psalms 46:1 goes on to say that He is an ever-present help in trouble. Wow! He is abundantly present and accessible in times of need. We can pray and/or cry out to Him at any time! I'm so glad that the Lord is willing, able, and sufficient to handle any of our problems, situations/circumstances--whatever they may be! God is with us, and we shouldn't be afraid. I'm so comforted, restful, and at peace in God's presence. As we are trusting in the promise of our eternal life (John 3:16, John 17:3), we should just as much trust that the Lord is in control and has authority in what we are facing in our lives day-by-day. He cares about the intricate details of our lives. Aren't you glad that He finishes what He starts (Jeremiah 29:11)?

Martin Luther wrote a song entitled "A Mighty Fortress is Our God". This song was inspired by Psalms 46:1.

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing: For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe; His craft and pow'r are great, and, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us; The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him; His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure, One little word shall fell him.

Isaiah 40:29 says He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength. What is so amazing to me about our lives in Christ is that the Holy Spirit drew us to God through Jesus Christ for us to be forgiven of our sin. He rescued us! Then, when we grow in Christ, it is because we are equipped to be victorious by the power of the Holy Spirit (not because of our own strength). Furthermore, no matter what we go through, we have the assurance that God is our refuge and strength and an ever-present help. Additionally, when we leave this earth, we will be in the presence of Jesus Christ!! That is something to shout about!!! \O//

It's all about Jesus!! The Lord is worthy to be praised, worshipped, adored, and obeyed!! Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father: Thank You so much for what You have done, am doing, and will do in our lives!!! Help us to completely yield/surrender our lives to You. We want to live a life that is pleasing to You!!
