The Great Exchange
Scripture: II Corinthians 5:21 - For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
As I think about the great exchange, I am so thankful that for the moment that I believed on the Lord Jesus Christ with all of my heart and His death, burial, and resurrection! God forgave me of my past, present and future sins. God declares sinners not guilty by imputing/applying Christ' righteousness to the believers' account based on the sacrificial death of Christ (Isaiah 53:4-5, Romans 5:10). When we trust in Christ, that was when an exchange was made -- our sin for His righteousness, which is called imputation (I Peter 2:24, Romans 3:31-26, Philippians3:9). Now that we have received salvation, we are to live a holy and righteous life unto the Lord Jesus Christ - set apart for Him, which is called sanctification. Because we are now in Christ and He died in our place, we are counted dead with Him and dead to sin (Romans 6:1-14). We are to yield our members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over us (Romans 6:18). Having been set free from sin, we have become slaves of righteousness; and now that we are slaves unto God, you have your fruit to holiness - and the end everlasting life (Romans 6:22). Paul said in Philippians 3;7-10, He was considering all of his credentials, successes and he counted them loss for Christ when he compared it with the greatness of knowing Christ. To know Christ should be our ultimate goal. Do you place anything above your relationship with Christ Jesus? Paul said I count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. He said I count them as rubbish that I may gain Christ - not having his own righteousness which is of the law but of God. The righteousness is of faith through Jesus Christ. (Isaiah 64:6 - All our righteousness is but filthy rags.) Paul gave up everything in order to know Christ and His resurrection power. What are you willing to give up to know and serve Christ? Whatever you give up, it will be worth it?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for sacrificing Your Son Jesus Christ who paid the debt I could not pay for my sins. He suffered for us that we can be free from the power of sin to serve You to be a slave for God. Help us to yield to the Holy Spirit. Help us to know/serve You for who You are, which makes us see how sinful we are. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Hallelujah for the great exchange! Saints not only have Christ's righteousness, which stays on our accounts, we also possess an over-enriched deposit of the Holy Spirit. We have all things because of Christ, and have become heirs with Him. How marvelous is that exchange indeed!
