Seeking After Lost People

Scripture:  Luke 19:10 - For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Jesus called us as born-again believers to follow His example in reaching out to lost souls/people.  Some Christians like the comfort zone of the four walls of their church.  While lost souls are dying all around us and going to hell without Jesus Christ in their lives, we need to  follow Jesus’ example.  He went out where the people were. In Luke 19 the people complained against Jesus for being a guest of a man who was a sinner.  Notice, Jesus did not let that stop or distract Him from reaching out to Zacchaeus.  The question we need to ask ourselves is --  Are we letting people or things or Satan distract us from reaching out to lost souls?  Zacchaeus was materially rich yet spiritually poor.  He knew about Jesus but did not know Jesus as His personal Lord and Savior.

A lot of people in the world and some in the church think they know Jesus, but they are still lost in their sins.  Why?  They reject Jesus and the teaching of His Word. Some of the Pharisees were religious but lost in their sins.  Zacchaeus was desperate to see who Jesus was, and he received Jesus joyfully!  Zacchaeus experienced joy in the presence of Jesus, and he also experienced an inward conviction of the wrong things he was doing in his life. Zacchaeus had a desire to make the necessary change in his life by giving back a portion of what he had stolen from the people. This is a true picture of repentance.  Also, what was missing in Zacchaeus’ life was fulfilled by Jesus Christ.  You can’t be found until you realize that you are lost.  Without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you are lost.  Then Jesus said to Zacchaeus, salvation has come to this house.  Jesus also said to him, the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.  Jesus’ mission was accomplished!

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, please help me to have a burning passion to reach out to lost souls like You did.  I want to always be about Your business.  (Luke 2:49)  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

The life of Zacceaus is a perfect example of true repentance and surrender to the will and ways of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful that He came to seek and to save that which was lost. I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind but now I see. Let us seek to help the Lost surrender to Christ just like someone did for us one day!!!
