The Power of the Cross
Scripture: I Corinthians 1:18 - For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
The message of the cross is more than just the speaking of impressive words or wearing a nice piece of jewelry around your neck. The real message/power of the cross is that Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross -- where all of our sins were nailed to that cross. (Colossians 2:13-14). Our past, present and future sins were placed upon Him so we can be dead to sin, self and alive to God and His righteousness through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:11-13). Now the question is—What does the cross mean to you? I don’t know about you, but the cross means everything to me. Why? The power of the cross has saved me and delivered me from the power of sin, death, hell, the devil, and has changed my life! Now I can live a holy life, be set apart to serve Christ, love Him, and love others. My life can be a witness for Christ. God has equipped us to do this by the power of the message of the cross -- Jesus Christ’ death, burial, and resurrection power, which is living in us. (Galatians 2:20) Paul said to Jews the message of the cross it is a stumbling block and unto the Greek it is foolishness. To those who are saved, it is the power of God. (I Corinthians 1:18) So now as born-again believers, we can proclaim the good news (the message of the power of the cross) to a dying world who needs a living Savior -- the Lord Jesus Christ. Now we are to go and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone!! (Mark 16:15)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please help me to yield to the power of the cross that my life will make a difference in my home, community, church, job, and wherever I may go. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
