Heavenly Incorruptible Inheritance
Scripture: I Peter 1:4-5 - to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
As we journey through this life, we are faced with so many different challenges. As believers in Jesus Christ, we can get so caught up in this life’s problems that we forget about our next life. Our true and heavenly inheritance is guaranteed to us, won’t fade away, and is reserved – being kept by the power of God. We’re sealed by the Holy Spirit’s power of promise – those who trusted the word of truth by believing the gospel of salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14). Peter wrote to the Jewish Christians who were scattered through the world as a result of persecution (I Peter 1:1-25). Peter offered words of joy and hope in times of their trouble. There is a price to be paid for being identified with Jesus. As we face economic and social persecution, we are to stand and not compromise our faith. We are to live as Jesus did – following Him, serving Him – giving up our own rights and resisting the pressures to conform to the world. We have to remember that nothing we suffer could be compared to the great price that Jesus suffered to pay the price for our sin -- that bought us our salvation. Paul wrote to the citizens of Philippi in Philippians 3:20 – 21. He said they have the same rights/privileges as the citizens of Rome, because Philippi was a Roman colony. Likewise, we as Christians have a citizenship, rights/privileges in America. Thank God for that blessing! We have to remember that this is only a temporary, earthly citizenship. We are passing through. This is not our real home. Let us not be so tied down to this world or life that we lose sight of our eternal life and citizenship in Heaven. Let us keep our focus/eyes on Christ and His purpose for us. Our goal and our passion should be to know Him in a personal way through a relationship. We should obey Him, love Him, and others, serve Him, worship Him with joy, while temporarily being here on earth. What legacy will you leave in this life that will glorify God? Let’s look forward with anticipation and high expectation to our heavenly citizenship in Heaven! He promised us our incorruptible inheritance! He also promised us: (1) Eternal life in His presence forever (Revelation 21;1-7); (2) A new glorified/resurrection body -- without sin. He promised that our body would be perfect for a new life. We will be serving God with eternal joy forevermore. We will be united with our saved loved ones. (3) There will be no more pain, suffering or death (Revelation 21:4-5). This will be a wonderful reunion. God will wipe away every tear from our eyes. There will be no more sorrow or crying. (4) All those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior will have a bright future of love, peace and joy! As believers, let’s keep spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ so that others may be saved in this life. Then they will have assurance of being in God’s presence in the next life. Then they can enjoy the incorruptible inheritance!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father: I thank You for this life and the next life to come! Help me while I live in this life to reflect Your love, forgiveness, grace and mercy. I love You! I praise You and glorify You for who You are. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
