Fearing God
Scripture: Psalms 103:13 - As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who
fear Him. Psalms 103:17 - But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting
On those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children,
A nation, family, or a person that does not fear God, who rejects God and His word will
eventually go down to nothing. They will suffer the consequences of God’s judgment. Proverbs 1:7 says “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” To fear God is to reverence, respect submit to, and obey Him. We should honor Him for who He is -- holy, without sin, righteous in all of His ways. He is omnipotent (has all power), omniscient (knows all things) and omnipresent (His presence is everywhere). Earthly fathers show pity, mercy, love and kindness to their children, but even more so, our heavenly Father shows pity, mercy, love, and kindness, to those that fear Him. Children are to obey their parents. To obey is to do as one is told. Also, children are to honor, respect, and love their parents which is the first commandment with promise – that it may be well with them, and they may live long on the earth. (Ephesians 6:1-3) It is vital to follow the commands of God. We should obey the Lord and learn about His principles and precepts from His word. It will keep us from a life full of sin, destruction and hell.
I volunteered at Camp Refuge, and their theme was “The Fear of God”. (Proverbs 14:26 - In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge.) The children in the camp were taught to fear God. It was good to see the children learning how to fear God. All of the workers participated in the worship and praise – as they gave honor to God. The gospel message was always presented, and some of the children invited Jesus Christ into their lives. That is what is missing in a lot of homes, schools, and even some churches. In these perilous times, let us as born-again believers, by the power of the Holy Spirit, live a life that reflects fearing/reverencing/obeying the Lord in every aspect of our lives. Do you reverentially fear God to the point that it affects your daily decisions? To fear God is wise but to reject Him is foolish.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we bow down in reverence and honor to You who deserves all praise and worship! (Psalms 96:4) We thank You for loving us and showing mercy and grace (as You did from generations past)! Help us to fulfill Your purpose for our lives as we choose to fear You and obey You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Praise the LORD that saints have a REVERENTIAL FEAR of God! Saints are no longer under the Father's judgement, or wrath for the consequences of rejecting His dear Son & Savior...our LORD Jesus Christ! The unredeemed still stand guilty and should be afraid of God's anger and wrath. Father, please help us to warn those of Your judgement to come. Help us to share Your wonderful love. There's no fear in love!
